How to reach:
By Train : There is no direct train between New Delhi and Nainital. You can take train from New Delhi to Haldwani then take a taxi from Haldwani to Nainital (Haldwani – Nainital is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive)
By Road : Nainital is well-connected to Delhi, by road. One can hire a private taxi from Delhi. You can also opt for state-run buses. There is also an option of private buses from Delhi.
Naini Lake: The lifeblood of this lake town, legend has it that the deep green lake is one of the emerald green eyes of Parvati, Shiva's wife. It is believed that the modern Naina Devi Temple at the northern end of the lake is the spot where her eye fell, after Vishnu chopped up her body and scattered it all over to stop Shiva's cosmic dance of destruction. Enjoy a rowboat or pedal boat ride around the lake or hire a yacht from the Nainital Boat Club. Shops and restaurants line the entire edge of the lake and you can hunt for candles, shawls, local handicrafts, honey, fruit juices and pickles.
Snow View: (2270 MT) About 3 kms from the town and also accessible via a Cable Car/ Rope Way. Snow view is one of the most visited tourist spots of the town. It provides enchanting view of the town and 350 km long range of the Glittering Mighty Himalayas.
Tiffin Top: 7250 ft (2290 mt) in Ayarpatta region also known as Dorothy's seat - in memory of an English lady Mrs. Kellet Dorothy, who was killed in an air crash build by her husband an admirers after her death. Tiffin top is a short trek of about 4 kms from Nainital and provides excellent view of the Himalayas and the Nainital town.
Land’s end: (2118 MT) About 4 kms from town provides a magnificent view of the plains and the beautiful Khurpa Tal surrounded by beautiful village and pine forests. The best feature of this spot is that one does not have to climb much and as the name suggests one feels on reaching the area that the end of the land has really come.
